It’s been a busy few months here at Waypoint as we grow our easy-to-use family of industrial autonomous mobile robots and configurations that enable manufacturing workers to get more done. Here’s a closer look at the latest.
Mobile Manipulation to Advance Robotics
In March we delivered a mobile manipulation robot for use in the MassTLC’s 5G Challenge sponsored by Verizon & Ericsson. This platform, comprised of Waypoint’s flagship Vector autonomous mobile industrial robot and Waypoint’s quick-swappable UR5 payload, will be used by the challenge winners to develop robotics solutions bolstered by 5G technology. This first-of-its-kind challenge asks teams to create 5G-powered robotics technologies in three key areas: industrial automation, collaborative robotics (cobots), and warehouse automation. Waypoint was thrilled to support this project and the thriving New England Robotics community pushing forward innovative technologies that will have real benefits for the workforce and the companies they work for.
Vector Mobile Robot + Oracle Cloud = Assembly Magic for Workforce
We continue to make waves with our Augmented Autonomous Assembly Robot with Oracle Cloud technology designed to automate assembly processes and data collection so workers can focus on more valuable tasks. In the last six months, we’ve taken this unit on the road with well received demos at Oracle Cloud Days in Atlanta, Chicago, and Boston as well as Oracle’s Modern Business Experience (MBX) held in Las Vegas.
This demo was featured by Oracle on their YouTube channel and in a recent TechCrunch article detailing how these technologies are helping Oracle advance from offering on-prem data centers to innovative cloud based solutions for industries of all kinds.
Success at PROMAT /AUTOMATE 2019
We are still basking in the glow of an extraordinary PROMAT/AUTOMATE 2019. Visitors to our booth were wowed by the flexibility and advanced capabilities of our growing line of omnidirectional autonomous mobile industrial robots that can be put to work immediately. This included Vector HD offering 600lbs carrying capacity and the versatile Vector 3D with 3D perception.
Also, the supply chain community seeking to do more with their valued workers welcomed Waypoint CEO Jason Walker’s refreshing talk on the importance of designing robots FOR the workforce.
And if you haven’t yet heard, another big PROMAT/AUTOMATE highlight was the launch of MAV3K that features a 3000-pound carrying capacity and omnidirectional mobility that enables astonishingly smooth and nimble movement of your heaviest materials. Don’t just take our word for it, The Robot Report, Robotics Business Review, Logistics Management, and others had some kind words too.
Stay tuned for more information on a beta program for those seeking early access to this one-of-a-kind autonomous mobile robot.
And always, reach out with any questions or requirements you may have.
