We come from a manufacturing background and share our customers’ values. We don’t wear suits. We don’t talk fast. We don’t waste money on fancy frills. We get our hands dirty and build robots.
Jason Walker is the CEO and co-founder of Waypoint Robotics. Prior to founding Waypoint Robotics, Walker was the Vice President of Operations at Stanley Innovation, as well as cofounder and Director of Operations at CyPhy Works, a leading persistent drone company.
While at CyPhy Works, Walker served as the Lead Roboticist and Principal Investigator for contracts with agencies such as DARPA, NIST, and the National Science Foundation. Prior to cofounding CyPhy Works, he was the lead quality and testing manager for the Roomba vacuuming robot at iRobot, during which time the reliability of the robot was increased three-fold over its predecessor.
Walker holds a BS in electrical engineering with a specialization in robotics and control systems from Kansas State University. With over 15 years of experience in the robotics industry, Walker’s accolades include awards for multiple academic robotics competitions, as well as multiple patents for various robot-related technologies.
In his spare time, Walker can be found mountain biking, wakeboarding, snowboarding, indoor skydiving (and outdoor skydiving if it’s convenient), go-kart racing, and basically anything else that involves speed, and a normal person finds terrifying.
Success in robotics is a matter of tenacity as much as it is talent; it takes years to make a real robot that works in the real world. Our objective is to help our customers and partners reach greater heights, and get there faster.
Patrick has an extensive background as a multi-disciplined principal working with highly complex electro-mechanical systems. Patrick has a BS/MS from WPI in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in dynamics and control theory, completing both programs simultaneously in 4 years. He began his career at iRobot Corporation developing next generation consumer robotics systems.
In 2009, Patrick joined Segway as a Vehicle Dynamics engineer in the Advanced Development group and worked as part of the PUMA project team responsible for delivering the embedded propulsion system for the GM/SAIC EN-V. His more recent work included redesigning the new Robotic Mobility Platform (RMP) embedded software architecture, which provides a highly flexible and expandable distributed processing framework for robotic systems and mobility solutions for industry, defense and research applications.
At Waypoint Robotics, Patrick’s extensive experience, patent portfolio and academic achievements are leveraged to provide expertise in:
Robotics will change the world; my goal is to be part of the revolution.
